What’s Green got to do with it?

September 5, 2019

Now that we have the ability to apply for grants, Kim Vandover, Cassy Bitz, and I explored some grants that we can apply for. Some groups we have found are: Aberdeen Area Community Foundation, South Dakota Community Foundation, 3M Environmental Grant, Knight Foundation, Wells Fargo Environmental Foundation, Kresage Foundation, and Patagonia.

We hope to use this grant money to improve our community and help us to promote a more sustainable community.

For our Earth Day Fair in 2020, we can apply for to the Aberdeen Area Community Foundation, South Dakota Community Foundation, and Knight Foundation.

One of our goals to is do a community scientific survey to discover where Aberdeen is in regards to global climate change, recycling, and investing in a zero-waste/carbon-neutral community.  We believe we can apply also to the Aberdeen Area Community Foundation, South Dakota Community Foundation, and Knight Foundation.

For educational materials, such as a flat screen to show videos, a solar panel and wind turbine, and pamphlets such as places to recycle, green products in our stores. We can apply to 3M Environmental Grant, Wells Fargo Environmental Grant, and Aberdeen Area Community Foundation.

To Green our downtown area by putting in water-stations and electrical car charging stations. We can apply to 3M Environmental Grant, Aberdeen Area Community Foundation, and Kresage Foundation.

To help our community have better drinking water by help cleaning up Elm River. We can apply for grants from the Department of Natural Resources and Patagonia Foundation.

This Fall we will be working exploring these projects and grants to see what we can do.

If you are interested in any of these, please come and join us.

Peace
